NVQ level 2 in Hairdressing- VTCT approved centre

In order to achieve long-term success, it is important for our stylists to have the strongest educational foundation.

You will be studying 9 units:

1.     Style and finish hair

2.     Set and dress hair

3.     Cut hair using basic techniques

4.     Colour and lighten hair

5.     Advise and consult with clients

6.     Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

7.     Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work

8.     Remove hair extensions

9.     Plait and twist hair

Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to advise and consult with clients and then provide a complete hairdressing service which includes, shampooing and conditioning, colouring, cutting and setting and dressing, and styling and finishing hair. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving and research skills will also be developed.

Why is this qualification the most suitable?

This is one of two VTCT qualifications in hairdressing level 2. Whilst both qualifications qualify learners to become a junior hairdresser/stylist, this qualification requires learners to work in a commercial hairdressing salon whereby assessments must be carried out on real paying clients in line with commercial service times. In contrast, the VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women's Hairdressing allows learners to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.

The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is most suitable for learners seeking to work in, and develop their skills in a commercial setting, and can only be delivered by centres that have, or have access to a 'real' hairdressing salon, and not a realistic working environment.
